When you are working with large data sets (> 1 GB) or small, and need to build a 3D model, SEMulator3D software is compatible with many layout tools.

SEMulator3D software builds 3D models from process data and 2D design data usually presented in GDSII format. SEMulator3D offers a variety of optional tools to view and process layout data in order to choose the correct design layers to build in 3D.

Layout Editor
SEMulator3D software ships with a fully functional Layout Editor.  Although it is not intended for large data files, the Layout Editor is used to either create or load layout data. SEMulator3D is launched from within the layout tool to facilitate model building. Having access to “tech-files” is extremely valuable when setting up the relation between the 2D layers and 3D stack. The layout tool can also be used for Circuit Edit (CE) planning by automatically creating CE-layers, and drawing the mill-points, straps and other CE information on these layers.

Knights-Camelot Bridge
As an option, SEMulator3D software can be configured to launch the 3D model building from within the Knights-Camelot software, allowing users to use existing Knights databases.

Cadence Virtuoso Bridge
Cadence Virtuoso Layout Editor users can now configure their software to launch the 3D model building from within the Cadence environment.

GDSII Zone Extraction Tool & GDSII Merge
Optional tools are available for extracting certain regions (zones) from larger GDSII files, without having to load the GDSII file into a Layout Tool. This helps avoid long layout load times when only small parts of the GDSII file  need to be built in 3D.  The GDSII merge function tool can be used when separate layers of a design are distributed among different GDSII files. GDSII Merge allows the user to merge these GDSII files into one file, needed to build the 3D model.

Standalone 3D model building
SEMulator3D can operate with any layout editor or layout viewer that is capable of exporting a GDSII file of the zone to be built in 3D.  For a more seamless operation, the layout tool can even launch from our application.
