Coventor E-Newsletter - December 2007

Welcome to the Coventor E-newsletter.

Message from the CEO

The MEMS Industry saw numerous successful commercial product launches in 2007, from the Nintendo Wii to the Apple iPhone.

As a software provider for MEMS companies, we are encouraged by the expansion in design starts, additional design hires as well as new companies entering MEMS. We see a very exciting 2008 ahead of us. The MEMS market is growing, the MEMS foundries are investing into new facilities, and MEMS is being applied in more applications than ever. At Coventor we are entering the year with breakthrough MEMS design capabilities that will accelerate the success of our customers and the industry even more. We look forward to working with you and sharing a mutually successful New Year!

Coventor Reception @ MEMS 2008 & Asia Distributor Meeting

The new year will kick of with the MEMS 2008 conference. The MEMS conference is one of the major events of the year where Coventor shows its support of the MEMS industry and MEMS research initiatives. We will be in Tucson, Arizona with a strong delegation this year to answer all your questions.

Come visit us at the exhibition and while you are there, pick up a personal invitation to join us for our Tuesday evening reception.

During the MEMS 2008 conference Coventor will be hosting their annual Asia Distributor Meeting. Our partners from Japan, Korea, Taiwan, China, India, Signapore, and Malaysia will be there. It's a great venue to meet with Coventor's representatives.

Introduction of Scene3D & CoventorWare 2008

Our development team has been busy over the last year to create the best MEMS Design Automation software to date, CoventorWare 2008. This new release is not just about fixing the software, it's about giving our customers access to superior design software that will give them a competitive advantage.

Those that are familiar with DESIGNER and ANALYZER will notice significant improvements in the ease of use, simulation job queue management, time dependent transient coupled electrostatic and mechanics simulations, and a complete new damping simulator that solves more accurately, faster and uses less memory.

With this new release Coventor is introducing a new product, Scene3D. It's a natural next step for those familiar with system level schematic MEMS design, but Scene3D will open the eyes of those that still believe that accurate simulations are done using Finite Element software products. Scene3D is a 3D solid modeling tool that let's you build MEMS schematics with ease and shows you system level simulation results in 3D. It looks like a Finite Element tool, but it is more than 100 x faster without loss of accuracy.

Have a preview on what is coming next. View the on demand presentation of Scene3D.

Extended MEMS Foundry Program with the addition of DALSA Design Kits

DALSA Semiconductor and Coventor have been working extending the MEMS Foundry Access Database inside CoventorWare to include the DALSA design kits.

The design kits now allow users to access DALSA’s new fabrication services supporting the integration of MEMS and microelectronics, including high voltage access (300V) on a single, tiny chip. These integrated devices are more versatile and consume less power than traditional systems, create new opportunities to increase the safety of automobiles, improve patient health monitoring and enhance entertainment and other consumer electronic devices.
